Associate Attorney
Overview
FIRST YEAR ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY WTH MAVERICK LAW GROUP, PLLC
A first-year associate is an entry level attorney who typically specializes in one area of law, here at the Maverick Law Group 85% of our legal revenue stream is in Business and Estate Planning. Entry-level and first-year associates perform a variety of tasks under heavy supervision and should be familiar with standard legal concepts and procedures.
Responsibilities
Typical duties of a first-year associate
- Researching and analyzing the law on complex issues and writing briefs for submission to a supervising lawyer in the firm
- Analyzing and summarizing complicated legal documents, including contracts, and suggesting alterations to those documents
- Performing discovery of various electronically stored data and hard copies of information in preparation for client meetings or in certain client files, litigation
- Performing due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts, agreements, and mergers and acquisitions

Qualification
- Juris doctorate degree in law, or applying for North Dakota State Bar 2023
- Experience working with complex legal issues is preferred but not required
- Must be willing to work independently without direct supervision
- Ability to perform research into various legal topics such that are relevant to the Maverick Law Group’s area of expertise
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills
- Strong written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Self-starter who can handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Effective time management
